Disadvantages of high-tech farming
It requires a lot of money and the growers need great skill and knowledge to maintain optimum productions in commercial application. When weather is hot and limited oxygenation, it may result in limit production and can result in lost of crops.
Advantage of high-tech farming
Hydroponics has taken plant cultivation to the next level. In fact, people who were never interested in gardening or growing plants are now doing so, simply because they are intrigued by the concept of growing plants without soil. Other advantages include faster growth combined with relative freedom from soil diseases, and very consistent crops, the quality of produce being excellent. There is also a considerable reduction in growing area, weeds are practically non-existent, while standard methods and automatic operations mean less labor, less cost, and no hard manual work.
Introduction to Hi-Tech Farming

High-tech farming mainly refers to agricultural methods using the latest technology, like hydrophonics and aerophonics. That is to say growing vegetables in water or in the air only, without the use of soil. And there’s also orchid farms and ornamental fish. It’s also called agrotechnoloy here. There are minimal physical inputs to the system, but it is capital intensive since large capital outlay is required to buy specialized equipment, computers, training of labour etc. It’s also a commercial farming system, farmers invest in them both for local and export markets; technical know-how is a must, for example, for hydrophonics computers are used to monitor; it is labour-intensive because of the training of lab technicians, scientists, chemists and farm-hands; it uses farming technologiy to increase yields; it has high output and market value because the so-called hygenic (usually pesticide-free) conditions appeal to all health-conscious people out there who don't mind paying more; it is dependent on research and development. Like growing temperate vegetables in a tropical climate, or genetic engineering developing disease-resistant plants with nice colours, or transgenic animals.

Organization of high-tech farming in Singapore
Hi-Tech farming which uses high technology for farming. Since 1986 AVA Singapore ( Agri-Food Veterinary Authority ) have stared for " high tech farming ) because of limited agricultural land in Singapore. Hi-TECH Farming need less space, for more products, less manpower.more hygiene.better product Quality.Singapore need Modern Technology , since 1986, to day over 200 FARMS in over six Agrotechnology Parks all are " Hi-TECH " ,products from Milk,Vegetables.Fish.Eggs.Fruit. .Those Vegetables by Singapore from NTUC is from our hi tech farming. " CHEWs " eggs."Seng Chong " eggs all are from local hi tech farming.
